There are ten crucial indicators of an individual's all-round health, according to one medical expert.
Dr David Minkoff operates the health stimulus programme Health by Numbers, which begins by establishing the ten benchmark measures of a person's physical state.
These include a comparison of water retention, bone mass and muscle mass, along with body fat and visceral fat - which accumulates around the vital organs within the abdomen.
Overall weight and antioxidant levels are also calculated, as well as a base metabolic rate, metabolic age and physique rating.
Dr Minkoff suggests that these ten indicators have already worked in diagnosing illnesses which might otherwise have been missed.
He adds that this has allowed treatment to begin early on conditions which could have caused the sufferer to miss work and experience an associated loss of income.
The delivery of Health by Numbers by Dr Minkoff at his own clinic, the LifeWorks Wellness Center, provides the calculation of these ten indicators as a free service.
After undergoing the analysis, patients can subsequently receive advice on how they might be able to improve their health.
By adopting the recommended principles, the medical professional claims that conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and stroke can be made less likely to emerge.
