Everyone who was alive in the 80sā remembers the slap bracelets, aluminium strips wrapped in bright neon fabrics which could be slapped on the wrist to form a band. The E-Paper Slap Bracelet is a similar to the old slap bracelets, however it uses e-paper technology to give the time, a slide show of pictures, or a set of funky designs.
The E-Paper slap bracelet is a great technology concept. However, its price will be quite high. The good news is that with low power E-Paper, the E-Paper Slap Bracelet is powered entirely by kinetic power.
The EMS E-Paper Music Score is a great concept design using E-Paper. Working via Bluetooth, the EMS E-Paper Music Score can load Music scores and display them on screen. The EMS E-Paper Music Score comes with a foot pedal for easy page turning, giving the composer full freedom with their hands to ensure the best performance.
The Continue Plug by Jing Zheng is a brilliant concept design which is expected to hit the market soon. Unlike current four way, or eight way adapters, which can easily become a tangled mess, the Continue Plug allows you to stack plugs one on top of another. You can have eight stackable plugs on top of each other, and each plug is basically an extension which leads to your electrical devices. The Continue Plug concept design is one which saves space, and keeps your wires tidy in a particularly unique way.
The Newsware Digital Toolkit for Reporters is a particularly useful technology concept design for 2010 which is focused on helping reporters and journalists. The Newsware Digital Toolkit comes in four parts, a microphone, a video camera, a soft touch sensitive keyboard, and a central double sided touch sensitive device which handles the accessories and the programs which control it.
The Atlas Kinetic cell phone is a basic cell phone device which is powered by pure movement energy. This sounds like a great idea, and it actually is a pretty good idea. Unfortunately the Atlas Kinetic Cell Phones visual appearance looks rather cheap, and not something you would take out with you in public. While it is made of aluminium and glass, making it a high quality device, it looks like something out of a Star Trek film. While it currently has a poor image, its actual functionality is pretty amazing.
The Hand Held Digital Wallet is a great technology concept design in 2010 which may not be available for quite some time yet. The Hand Held Digital Wallet wirelessly tracks your bank accounts, shares, and credit cards. It also allows you to pay for goods, and withdraw money. Security is by thumbprint ID, possibly a pin code, and chip and pin technology.
The Curved iMac is a brand new concept design for home and business. There are currently two models out there, with one boasting a curved iMac screen. There is also a design for businesses which uses a second screen on the back, which can be used to show customers or colleagues what you are doing, or what you want them to see.
The Curved iMac Concept is a new way of viewing your Mac. It is easier to work on, and it makes it feel like you are in your own personal space. This is not perfect for everyone, and may make things such as graphic art more difficult. However, for casual users, it will put you in a great entertainment environment.
The Finger Swinging Battery is a great little design for your Cell Phone battery. While in normal cases you can recharge it as normal, the Finger Swing battery will let you recharge it anywhere in an emergency. Simply slide your little finger through the hole at one end of the battery, and swing it around your finger. The kinetic energy charges your cell phone battery enough to hold a conversation, and keep in touch with the world, wherever you are!
Yet another Apple product has made it on to the list, but with good reason. The iPad is a multimedia 10 inch touch screen pad which allows you to access the internet, browse photos and manage your life. The iPad is not the first technology concept device of this nature; however it will have the Apple user friendliness and design, which make this one of the top Technology Concepts of 2010.
The Optimus Project comes in two parts, a main keyboard, and a 15 key side pad. This may not sound like too much, until you realise that the Optimus Project Keyboard and side pad actually are clear plastic keys, overlaying an LCD screen. The image of keys will then change automatically to whatever you are doing. Opening an email, the side pad will change from regularly used applications to send, forward, etc. Playing World of Warcraft? You will get all your spell icons lining up along the top of your keyboard.
The current concept design for 2010 is a completely flat keyboard, with a touch surface that changes as with previous designs. This is all well and good, but most people do prefer the feel of keys, rather than a non-responsive pad. The Optimus project is a truly innovative piece of work, which is set to be the future, although it is quite an expensive future at the moment!
