New products have been launched for users of both PCs and Macs in recent days, with one manufacturer promising to take gaming systems as close to flying as possible without the addition of wings.
Patriot Memory has launched its 2,000 MHz Tri-Channel Viper DDR3 Memory kit for new PC systems or hardcore gamers looking to upgrade.
As technical engineering manager Saeed Arash Far says, the speeds unlocked by the addition of the memory to a system leave wings as the only thing missing for gaming PCs "to fly".
Kits are to be provided in 6 GB capacities - and potential buyers are told that the memory has been hand-tested extensively before launch.
Meanwhile, Mac users are being given capacity of a different kind with the release of new storage options.
Storage developer Thecus has unveiled network-attached external hard drives with features that bring "exceptional" performance to users.
For example, the disks used in the devices can operate as a RAID array, backing up data automatically and preventing files from being lost if one disk should fail.
The option of fitting a USB dongle to the units means that they can also be placed remotely from a wired home network if wireless access is available.
Both products have been introduced with immediate effect - meaning they should be appearing in stores and online in the near future.
