The "sporty" new SEAT Ibiza Bocanegra is ready to hit the road, the manufacturer reveals.

Currently on display at the Barcelona International Motor Show, the car has been a year in the making since a concept version was unveiled in Geneva last year.

SEAT suggests that the sporty nature of the vehicle is obvious from its muscular build, with bumpers which get bigger over the wheel arches and at the bottom.

The fog lights are built into the bumper - which the manufacturer adds combines the colour of the bodywork with conventional black.

Inside, a flattened three-spoke steering wheel features the capital B emblem that identifies the model.

The B is also stitched into the upholstery on the seats, which are covered in a pattern of red rhomboids.

Aluminium-clad pedals and gloss black trim complement the interior design of the model, while marking it out as different from the Cupra and FR versions that are yet to come.

SEAT points out that the more distinctive aspects of the exterior finish include the "semi-transparent" front of the car, with a central area of black surrounded by the red of the bodywork.

Former Lamborghini design chief Luc Donckerwolke created the "Perspex-nosed" vehicle in his new role as design director at SEAT.
