New Celebrity Fashion Lines

Celebrities have long used fashion lines to help turn their name into a recognizable brand. The clothes and accessories offered tend to be similar in style to what that particular celebrity wears. Because of this, celebrity fashion lines usually fill a very specific niche. Likewise, the celebrity’s public image can help to serve as built-in marketing. Dedicated fans, additionally, are quick to support those they adore. Prices run the full gamut, much like the range of celebrities in on this trend. A round up of the latest launches and expansions in the celebrity fashion world follows.

Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon will be releasing their new fashion line on January 25. Prices for this collection will be steep. One of the cheapest items is a bandana valued at $100. Featured in the collection are other rock’n’roll paraphernalia such as a leather jacket, fedora, and guitar strap. The limited-edition line is a partnership with Surface to Air, a group that’s collaborated with other musicians (e.g., Justice and Chromeo) on clothing before.

Heidi Klum’s Two Maternity Lines

February 12 is the launch of Heidi Klum’s two maternity lines, Lavish and Loved. The former will focus more on stylish pieces that have a good fit. It’ll be available at A Pea in the Pod. The latter is going to be more about comfort and affordability. It’ll be sold through Motherhood Maternity. Both lines will be available in-store and online. The model, television host, and mother of four was inspired to create the collections after suffering too many fashion difficulties during her own pregnancies. With these lines, Klum is using her extensive experience in and knowledge of the fashion world to create clothes that will encourage pregnant women to feel great about their changing bodies.

New JWoWW Collection Announced

One of the stars of the popular reality show Jersey Shore, Jenni “JWoWW”, is also going to be entering the fashion world. If she continues the tradition of modeling the line after one’s own style, consumers can expect the line’s specialties to be low-cut shirts and rhinestone embellishments. JWoWW refers to her personal style as “sexy sophisticated.”

Lindsay Lohan’s Leggings Collection

Lindsay Lohan’s collection of leggings, 6126, is expanding to a full line. The new collection will focus mostly on leggings-compatible items like dresses and tunics. The price range is expected to be $18 to $300. No official rollout date has been announced, but the news has caused a stir of controversy. Lohan has since accused her (former) best friend Patrick “Pootie” Aufdenkamp of stealing the designs. He plans to unveil his new line at New York Fashion Week. Shortly after accusations against Aufdenkamp came out, several blogs and designers began claiming the 6126 designs weren’t completely original anyways. Foremost amongst this troupe is Black Milk Clothing designer James Lillis, who insists the line’s cut-off “Diamonds” leggings are a rip-off of his “Sheer Spartans.”

Jessica Simpson has a New Swimwear Collection

Jessica Simpson has a new swimwear collection available. The line is a partnership with Red Carter and available exclusively at Macy’s. The overall design is playful and features a hodgepodge of black and bright patterns. Simpson says she and her mom were involved in every step of the design process. Pieces in the collection will retail from $35 to $70.

With all the built-in marketing and endorsement, celeb fashion lines can be a good, pre-Fashion Week way to gauge what trends the New Year will bring.
