Tiger to Play in 2010 Masters
Tiger Woods will play this year’s Masters, the UK’s gamblers have betted.
The British bookmaker William Hill has cut the odds on Woods playing the tournament, following speculation that wife Elin Nordegren has decided to stay with him.
Gamblers can now only bet on odds of 1-4 – much shorter than the odds of 4-6 after his car crash outside his family home last November.
The golfing star, who has won the Master’s four times, announced a break from the golf course following revelations of several infidelities, sparked by the mysterious car incident. However, he is reportedly desperate to go back and test his swing.
Rupert Adams, spokesperson for the bookmaker, said: “Everybody who’s had a bet seems absolutely certain that he’ll make it to Augusta.
“We’ve only taken money on the one side that he will be playing there, so that’s why we shortened it right up.”
He revealed that the bets have come from all over the world, including Dubai and said it was ‘clear’ why everyone expected Woods to make his return at the Masters.
Mr Adams added: “In terms of security and everything else like that, the Masters is perhaps the perfect place. Not just any old chap can get there.
“The crowds are pretty quiet. They aren’t the sort who are going to start giving him a bit of the old leg-pulling halfway through.
“He’s the favorite for every tournament he plays in. It’s as simple as that.”
