Conan O’Brien to Leave The Tonight Show
Talk show host Conan O’Brien is to officially leave The Tonight Show after reaching a multi-million dollar agreement with the show’s network.
As part of a $45 million dollar deal, the 46-year-old star will part company with NBC with a personal pay-off of around $33 million.
The remainder of the payout is said to be going to other staff members who will also leave the show.
It could pave the way for Jay Leno, who had a 17-year stint hosting the program, to return to the NBC hot-seat.
Making light of the situation, O’Brien recently said taking charge of The Tonight Show has seen him fulfill one of his life ambitions.
He then said to viewers:”I just want to say to the kids out there: you can do anything you want in life … unless Jay Leno wants to do it too.”
Leno left the show after 17 years to concentrate his efforts on a prime time slot, however the move did not go as smoothly as planned and he is now said to be returning to the chair he called home for such a long time.
