Ducati Desmosedici RR Tops Christmas Wish List
Although most men will have to make do with a toy model rather than the real thing, the monstrous Ducati Desmosedici RR has topped a list of British men's number one choice of superbike.
Other bikes desired by wishful thinkers included the bike used in the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight, and motorcycle superstar Valentino Rossi's Yamaha YZR-M1 Moto GP model.
A surprise inclusion in the top ten, compiled by motorbike insurance specialist Devitt, was the as yet unreleased BMW S1000RR, the German manufacturer's first venture into the World Superbike market.
The list was dominated by powerful machines including the Ducati 1098R, Yamaha YZF 1000 R1, Honda CBR1000 Fireblade and Aprilia RSV4 R, prompting the insurer to issue a warning to power-hungry men.
"When it comes to buying a bike, we urge people to be realistic about the power they can handle," said a spokesman for Devitt.
"It's always best to find a vehicle that suits the rider, rather than one that looks good or is the stuff of super heroes. A true dream bike is one that suits your height and build, as well as your experience, needs and budget – that way you’ll be itching to get out on two wheels," he added.
