Australian Man Takes 600km Wrong Turn

All men understand that they are never meant to admit they’re lost and ask someone else for directions.

It’s an unwritten rule that guys are supposed to plough ahead and keep driving until they find their way again.

Well, one man in Australia pushed that rule to the extreme earlier this week when making a mammoth detour after taking a wrong turn.

The 81-year-old man called on police for help after ending up lost 600 kilometres away from where he intended to buy his daily newspaper.

Eric Steward left to buy a paper while visiting friends just outside Sydney in Yass, New South Wales.

Eight hours later, the pensioner approached Victoria state cops near Melbourne to ask for help.

When asked why he hadn’t stopped and asked for directions, Mr Steward said he just liked to drive.

“I just went out on the road to have a drive, a nice peaceful quiet drive,” he said.

“I didn’t know where I was going but I knew it was somewhere, and with a bit of luck I would eventually find my wife again,” he added.
