Nissan to Unveil Concept Car-Bike
Hot on the heels of Nissan’s pioneering green-car the Leaf, the Japanese manufacturer has unveiled a new car which has the characteristics of a motorbike.
Visitors to the recent Tokyo Motor Show were treated to a glimpse at the new Land Glider, which seats two passengers in single file.
The lithium battery-powered vehicle also boasts tilting axles which allows the car to lean into corners and will be operated by handle bars rather than a steering wheel.
The news follows an announcement earlier in the year that the firm’s Leaf car will go on sale in the US next year.
Similar technology will power the chassis of the medium-sized hatchback which will reportedly travel more than 100 miles on a full charge.
Eco-friendly technology could signal the end for gas-guzzling petrol cars as Honda, Toyota and Suzuki all plan to release their greener efforts in the near future.
At the motor show in Japan, Honda unveiled an electric-powered concept named the EV-N, while Suzuki announced plans to release a hybrid version of their Swift super-mini.
Not to be outdone Toyota, which makes the popular Prius model, unveiled the Sai which is set to achieve 54 miles per gallon, more than double that of standard gasoline car.
