Caleb Followill, front man of rock band Kings of Leon, is to trade his guitar for a fork when he appears as a judge on a US cookery show.

The star, who is more often seen rocking crowds and drinking than tasting dishes, has signed up to appear on television program Iron Chef.

His brother Nathan, who is also drummer for the Kings of Leon, told Billboard magazine that both he and his sibling loved watching the cookery show.

Iron Chef, which is based on a Japanese television series, pits world class cooks against the “Iron Chefs” of the US.

Nathan revealed that the pair are both fans of “nice meals and nice wine”.

However, “we just let him [be a judge] because I’m usually so drunk by the end of a meal that I probably wouldn’t make any sense and they’d have to bleep out more than they could use”, he explained.

The band are putting together a remix package based around the four albums they have released in their career so far, Billboard reported.

Producers rumoured to be involved in the project include Mark Ronson, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams.
