Jaguar has unveiled its new XJ model at the opening night of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance motor show.

Motoring enthusiasts will have a choice of three engines including a 5.0 litre 385hp naturally aspirated V8, a 5.0 litre 470hp supercharged V8 and a 5.0 litre 510hp supercharged V8.

The new vehicle will appeal to eco-friendly drivers half of its lightweight body has been made with recycled material, creating a potential saving of three tonnes of carbon dioxide per vehicle.

Drivers will also have a choice of a standard or long wheelbase model with the latter offering an additional five inches of legroom in the rear of the vehicle, without infringing on the size of the trunk.

Richard Beattie, executive vice-president of marketing and sales at Jaguar North America, said: “We are proud to reveal the all-new Jaguar XJ in Pebble Beach as it marks a major milestone for Jaguar in North America”

The car will be available to buy in early 2010 with prices starting at $72,500.
