Farrah Fawcett, one of the original stars of the Charlie’s Angels TV series, has died aged 62 following a long-term illness.
The actress had been suffering from cancer and passed away at the St John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California with her partner Ryan O’Neal at her side, her spokesperson said.
Fawcett quit Charlie’s Angels after one series for a move into films, although she also featured in a range of TV and stage roles.
She was nominated for a number of awards for different roles on the small screen at various stages in her career.
O’Neal, who she had been in a relationship with since 1980, said following her death: “She’s gone. She now belongs to the ages.”
He added that he loved her with all his heart and that in her final hours, while she drifted in and out of consciousness, he told her how he felt. But now she had gone to a “better place”.
Fawcett’s cancer was first diagnosed in 2006 – her life with the disease was documented in the TV show Farrah’s Story.
