Men could lower their risk of suffering some of the most common ailments by visiting a medical professional more often, it has been suggested.
Dr Carl Hastings, chief scientific officer at nutritional supplement producer Reliv International, explains that many men visit a doctor infrequently.
However, there are a range of conditions that they could be left open to as a result, the company claims.
Reliv International notes that these include serious ailments such as heart disease, diabetes and prostate cancer.
The company adds that each condition has been linked with beneficial effects of nutritional supplements in the past.
For heart disease - the leading reason behind deaths among men - phytosterols, plant-based compounds, are suggested.
Meanwhile, individuals with diabetes are told that natural ingredients such as cinnamon can have an effect on blood sugar levels.
Finally, those concerned about prostate cancer are told of the numerous ways their diet can help to keep them healthy.
A generally good supply of fruit and vegetables is recommended, along with selenium and vitamin E as more specific ingredients to focus on.
Reliv also produces general dietary supplements designed to ensure good nutrition in adults, teenagers and children, along with its isotonic sports drink Innergize!
