For audiophiles who think you just can’t beat the authentic sound of vinyl records, From The Capitol Vaults could be a pleasing campaign.
Record label Capitol/EMI is publishing selected works from its back catalogue on vinyl throughout 2009, with 11 titles due to hit the shelves on June 16th.
These include self-titled album The Specials, along with Stranded and Country Life from Bryan Ferry’s Roxy Music.
Live Peace In Toronto 1969 from the Plastic Ono Band could please peace-lovers, whereas Megadeth’s So Far, So Good… So What! brings up the noise level a little.
Sunflower and Surf’s Up add two Beach Boys titles into the mix, with Mama Tried from Merle Haggard included in the new releases.
Freaky Styley, Mother’s Milk, and The Uplift Mofo Party Plan complete the list, all from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Capitol/EMI points out that the new issues of these albums on vinyl brings them back out of print, having previously been unavailable to purchase brand new.
From The Capitol Vaults was launched on September 2nd, 2008, with the record label adding five extra titles to the first batch of releases.
The launch schedule was also modified in response to customer demand for the vinyl records to be made available, Capitol/EMI said at the time.
